Buzen--[He reaches out with his good hand, resting it on his arm.]--for this, if nothing else, please don't worry about my feelings over your own. We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to.
[Kaveh's a pathetic mess, but he's not so in need of fussing that Buzen has to look out for him to this extent.]
[ . . . he looks a little confused at first, before the sentiment warms his expression a little bit. he’ll bring his own hand to rest over kaveh’s, squeezing gently]
… I’m okay, really. It bothers me - but only because I’m mad about what happened to him.
Everything I see is him just - being a kid. Enjoying himself. I wish he got more time like that.
I do too. [If he thought it would actually help, he would've listened to Kiichi's advice in those first days and taken himself out of the equation.
He wants more than that, even. He wants to be able to help everyone who came from a bad situation, like Ylfa, or even Vash and Wolfwood, whose worlds sound so rough and barren. He wants to track down whoever set up this horrible system and beg them to find some other way. He wants so many things that are out of his grasp, and it makes this whole thing so much more frustrating.]
[softly, but like buzen is still holding onto hope, as he always is.]
We have to keep going - if only to find out what happened to Rin-san first and then... I guess we'll see. If there's more discover here then there's enough of us looking for an alternative that it'd be impossible to miss.
That's something I'm willing to believe in, and put effort into.
[It's nice to have, if not a true optimist, then at least the closest thing to one. There may not be any concrete evidence for that hope, but it's something to cling to like a lifeline, so he'll hold onto it.]
Okay. [He does want to find Rin's killer, if nothing else. To stop them from hurting more people, just like Yang Guifei.] Then... I'll do what I can.
[buzen works up a soft smile at that - a little too tired and exhausted for one at full energy, knowing everything he does about the situation. but he'll move his hand from where it's over kaveh's to rest lightly at his back]
That'll be more than enough, Kaveh-san.
Just keep your head up, okay? We're all here to support each other... that much I'm sure of.

[It's not like young people dying is uncommon in Teyvat, but. It still hurts.]

[that's his simple truth.]
But if there's anyone I hope gets to go home a little extra - it's those kids who've only ever known peace.

...Is there really nothing else we can do?

ARE WE!!!!!!!!]
Mm. I'm grateful for that. [Even if it also hurts, knowing that that kindness can only go so far--that it can't stop someone from taking a life.]
