ANYWAY. This is a terrible starter but Kaveh is truly just sitting somewhere quiet--a booth at Mcdonald's, maybe, or somewhere in the park. His gaze is distant and sad, but he does look over at Jonas's approach, gaze flicking over him as if to check for any injuries.]
Are you okay?
me not hitting send for 20 minutes im so sorry pixi
[ gazes at the entry body and nods. anyway it's fine because, like, kaveh was on his brain earlier as soon as the announcement of hikari's erasure came up. truthfully he'd been kind of looking around for the man, so when he finds him at the park there's a little bit of relief to him. ]
Sort of feels like I should be asking you that, man. [ but he understands why. ] I'm fine. I think everywhere I looked wasn't a part of...whatever happened last night.
I'll be okay. [He wasn't--surprised, exactly. He's not so naive that he didn't know this would happen. But still... that doesn't make it any less depressing.] It doesn't seem like anyone else was hurt.
[Which was his initial fear, so he's glad for that, at least. No wild serial killers.]
Yeah. We can be grateful about that much. [ he does not mention about a train almost hitting a few people. ] Still...sort of feels like we have our work cut out for us now. With a trial tomorrow and everything.
I'm pretty sure we're going to have to be part of the law enforcement tomorrow, but...maybe? A lot of people found clues today, so we'll probably have to piece them together to figure out what to do next.
Something like that. He's the General Mahamatra. [Oh, Jonas probably doesn't know what that means.] It's essentially law enforcement for the Akademiya.
Like the leader of the Matra then? We have something similar with the police force where I'm from. [ he sounds fairly neutral about it, but he does understand. ]
Nahida told me a little bit about how the system works in Sumeru. [ he offers an explanation kaveh didn't ask for. ] But she didn't mention Cyno. Is it like...a thing he's trained in? Or some kind of power?
Your elemental stuff. [ he is slowly learning how genshin works. ] Must be really good at it if he's head of the force. Having somebody here who could sniff out lies would be so useful right now.
...I mean the trade-off would be that he'd be dead, so...maybe not.
[ there's a nod to that. this situation is pretty bad... ]
Alex and I both got here, but I'm still not sure it's a good thing for her to be here. [ ... ] Did you and Nahida know each other much before you showed up?
[Yeah. He gets it; it would be simultaneously easier and harder to be here alone. No one to worry about, but no one to lean on, either.]
Not really. Rather, I have no idea how much she knows about me--she's the god of wisdom and knowledge, after all. But we didn't really spend much time together before this.
...right. It's hard to forget she's not what she appears. [ he says, possibly only just now learning nahida is a god to begin with. ] She seemed pretty concerned about making sure you guys stuck together and were okay, so I was just sort of wondering.
...makes sense. She seems like the kind of person who cares more about people than about herself which is...nice to think about from a god. And even weirder that she was brought here.
[ like it's weird and bad any of them are here but who the fck killed god and decided she should play a game to revive herself. ]
Honestly, that's been bothering me since we got here. It's very difficult to kill an archon, and as far as I know, there was nothing happening in Sumeru that would've put her at risk like this. It's not like we were at war.
Has anything like this ever happened to her before? I mean obviously not...dying...but being taken or anything like that. I'd think it'd be really hard for someone to take down a deity just like that.
[He hesitates; it's Sumeru history, so it isn't exactly a secret, but... it's different, talking about the things your Archon has been through as a citizen of her nation, versus as her individual companion.]
...She's been subjected to a lot of injustices. It's not really a secret, but I probably shouldn't talk about it too much without her permission. But in general, yes, you're right--taking down a god in any capacity is no easy task. What I can say is that our Sages were recently overthrown, and she was restored to her rightful position; but I couldn't tell you much about it, since I wasn't in the city at the time.
But it couldn't have been them, I don't think. They're all under very close supervision.
[ he frowns at the first part because, like...nahida's so nice? she's been nothing but nice and inquisitive and open since they all got here, so it seems pretty shitty to have to go through several injustices.
not me forgetting kaveh just straight up was gone for so much of the sumeru arc. ]
No, yeah, that's...fair. Sorry, I probably shouldn't have pried. It's her business. [ but he nods to the rest anyway. ] Sounds like a pretty bad situation though even if it's under control. So that does make it weirder for her to be here.
It's been a while, but nobody seems to remember any more than they did before when we woke up a week ago.
[HE ONLY GOT INFO ABOUT THE ARCHON QUEST SECONDHAND IT'S SO FUNNY. Help.]
No, it's alright. To be honest, I doubt she'd mind if I told you--but I certainly wouldn't want my worst years aired out to anyone and everyone. [It's probably bad enough that all of Sumeru knows it already.
But he nods, frowning slightly.]
It does seem strange. I'm not exactly an expert on death and dying, but it does seem like our memories should be clearing up.

Mainly the first. Though he uses his Vision to fight, I'm sure--but no, it's just a job, as far as I'm aware.
[Cyno being possessed or whatever is unrelated to his job, probably]

Yes, she's a very capable ruler. She's been through a lot, but even then, she's always cared a lot about her people.
[And he's one of her people, so it's not that surprising, he thinks.]
