That's always ideal, yes. But sometimes it's impractical. Granted, construction work is a unique situation... I don't know what a miner's schedule would be like.
Probably pretty similar, actually. It sort of depends on where the mines are, but—like, Edwards Island was a mining island, but no one really lived there. But it was before there were, you know, hourly ferry rides back to the mainland. So miners would stay on the island for weeks at a time, just working long shifts.
