[THINGS HAVE HAPPENED... and here they are. After the NPC shenanigans (and Rang shenanigans tbh), Kaveh departs--though he doesn't go far. Simon can find him just gazing out at the shadowy figures, lost in thought. There's a tiny IKEA pencil and notecard in front of him, with the beginnings of some kind of drawing on it, but he doesn't seem to be actively working on it at the moment.]

[ during the time he spent nervously hanging back and listening to everyone else ask the questions he wanted answers for, simon came away with a better impression of kaveh than he did of most of the others. so when he sees him out here by himself afterward, he tentatively wanders over. ]

U-um... hi...

[SWEET SIMON DOING HIS BEST. Kaveh looks up from where he's sitting, his attention brought back to the present--he smiles politely and nods in greeting.]

Hello. You're a member of the group, aren't you?

[ he is... certainly doing something!

he nods back, looking kind of happy to have been recognized as such even though the only other options are literally just reaper referee or shadow person. ]

Yeah! Simon. ...And, uh, that's Money. [ a gesture to the monkey in the party hat who's tagging along behind him. ]

[LMFSKDJHGK HELP I love you Simon. Kaveh looks a little confused at this monkey even though he lives in the rainforest. It's fine.]

It's nice to meet you two. I'm Kaveh. [A pause, and then he gestures to his toolbox.] And this is Mehrak, though it's not sentient, so you don't have to greet it or anything.

[Mehrak says "beep boop" and makes a sad face.]

Oh! It... it looks sad...?

[ ??? ]

...But, uh, it's nice to meet you too. I was... kind of listening when all the rest of you guys were talking to the blue one, so...

[Kaveh waves a hand, as if he was not the one who built this thing and gave the capacity to display emotions.]

It's fine. [Pls.] More importantly--how are you doing, after all of that? Did you... get answers to most of your questions?

[Even if they were. Bad answers.]

Y-yeah, mostly. Most of them were kind of... not great to hear, though...

[Sometimes... you build yourself a companion that can't die on you...

But Kaveh nods, his expression serious and a little grim.]

Yes, I was hoping for different answers too. [God. He hates this situation.] ...Have you thought about a team?

Sort of... but I'm, uh, not really that great at talking to people, s-so this whole thing's really hard.

[ sigh ]

And even if I was, it's not like I have anything to offer. Plus I'm probably like... um... super easy to kill... so no one'd wanna be linked to that.

[ lowering his voice at that one part like it's a secret ]

[Kaveh frowns, straightening up.]

Don't think of it like that. You don't need to earn the right to try and survive. [Firmly.] You may be right that people will be more... [selfish--but no, that's mean] selective about what they're looking for, now that we have more information, but that doesn't mean there's no place for you. Here--let's figure out your skills and see if we can't think of ways you might be able to adapt them.

Um, feeding animals...? Setting up stages... uh... driving...

[Kaveh nods encouragingly, a patient look on his face.]

Well, don't Count D and Eiden both have pets with them? I'm sure they'd appreciate an extra set of hands. As for setting up stages--do you mean for performances? That's a lot of hard work--it involves keeping track of materials and their placements, maybe even knowing how to repair or substitute things in a pinch. As for driving, [I'm making the executive decision that he understands this meaning even though there are no cars in genshin] those skills vary, I assume, but controlling any kind of vehicle takes concentration and spatial awareness.
