[Unfortunately Kaveh feels the same way so he just nods]
I think so too. It does make me worry a little about whatever situation she came from... [WHY IS SHE SO GUARDED... shenhe... :< ] ...Anyway, don't let anyone convince you that you need to repay them for getting healed. If they give you trouble, just come to me.
[He really is. I'm sure that won't be a problem at all here
But Kaveh blinks, then brightens up!!]
Oh, that's right! Sorry--I sort of expected you were just being polite. [He didn't think Livio would actually follow up] Are you sure you don't mind? It's hard for me to shut up once I get going.
In that case--you wanted to know how a building can have soul, right? Well, I don't mean it literally, of course--although now I'm not so sure [thanks Buzen and Matsui]--but more in the sense that a building's design should have character. You should look at it and feel moved in some way, a way that's appropriate to whatever its function is. Look at it this way--imagine if you felt the same way walking into a place of worship as you did looking at a grocery store. That would be absurd, don't you think? Consider, too, ancient ruins--whatever that may look like where you're from. Surely some of those structures still take your breath away, even today? My point is, architecture is art.
Ultimately, of course, aesthetics are not the top priority--safety and quality are. But for me... I've designed too many buildings that were pure, lifeless practicality. That's why I insist on beauty in every one of my designs.
[ yeah honestly, thinking about how swords can be people gives him a huge headache ]
[ but he just patiently listens to kaveh talk about architecture... this is pretty fascinating for him. most buildings in trigun are like super run down or super creepy or both, so it's wild seeing someone with such passion talk about it ]
What were yer best designs like? The ones with soul?
Well--if it's my own design, it has to be The Palace of Alcazarzaray. That's my magnum opus. I sacrificed a lot to build it... but it was worth everything it cost me.

[Kaveh is from a socialist country
But he will reach out and tap Livio's face, then! DOUBLE HEAL.]

Well, I won't forget it!! I'll find a way to make it up to you!!

Kaveh laughs, though.]
Make it up to me by being more careful, especially around Shenhe.

It does seem like she's had it pretty rough.... [ if she's that jumpy ]
[ kaveh is so nice though, livio gives him a little smile. ]
Thank you.

[ as livio tries and fails to mentally pronounce that. ]
I'd like to see that.
