Imagine if I left the tag at that. But no--actually, he seems to be focused on his phone? He's frowning and muttering to himself, and it seems like he's going to run directly into Wolfwood at this rate. Will Wolfwood allow this to happen, or will he say something?]

[ He's looking. He may also just be seeing if Kaveh is really just going to run into his chest.

He even politely stops walking so that there is no argument that Wolfwood is the one who walked into Kaveh. ]

Oh--no, not exactly. I'm just trying to understand more about this device we've been given. [Holding up the phone!] It has some similarities to devices I'm used to, but not many.

What? They have? That's rude. [Jeez!!] Back home, we had something called the Akasha System--it's not functional anymore, but in simple terms, it allowed for an easy transfer of information. Then there's a wealth of ancient technology that I could draw a few comparisons from, but I won't bore you with the details of all that, since I wouldn't say any of them are really that similar to this.

[And then there's. Y'know. The floating suitcase hanging out behind Kaveh's shoulder.]

A network... that's a good word for it, yes. [He doesn't know what a satellite is, but that's okay. He lifts up the phone.] From what I can tell, this device has a variety of functions--communication, entertainment, image capturing, writing... I was hoping to find a way to tinker with it so I could study it more closely, but I haven't figured it out yet.

[He's a fantasy anime engineer craftsman architect technological genius guy... not a sci-fi anime genius guy...]

I heard someone say once that grace is the price we pay for youth. [He says it with a touch of amusement, though, not like it's something super serious.] I'm not entirely sure I agree, though. I've met plenty of people my age who are just as obnoxious as any of my school peers ever were.

That's totally valid, though. Kaveh's only in the mood for light humor himself, and only because he's trying very hard to keep his shit together.]

I can relate. Alhaitham's only a little younger than me, but sometimes I think he's lost tact since we were children, which is remarkable, given he never had any to begin with!

Young people die all the time. [ Unfortunately, it's a truth where Wolfwood's from. ] Could've spared them from havin' to go up against adults for a reaping game, though.

I know. [Quietly. It's better in Sumeru--well, in the city, that is--than it is elsewhere, he knows, but Kaveh is fully aware of the reality of suffering.] But I agree. I'd like to keep an eye on them regardless of what happens with these teams we're meant to be forming, but I'm not sure how feasible that will be.

[Especially after the NPCs show up on Sunday and say "die"]
