He lifts up the phone.] From what I can tell, this device has a variety of functions--communication, entertainment, image capturing, writing... I was hoping to find a way to tinker with it so I could study it more closely, but I haven't figured it out yet.

I heard someone say once that grace is the price we pay for youth. [He says it with a touch of amusement, though, not like it's something super serious.] I'm not entirely sure I agree, though. I've met plenty of people my age who are just as obnoxious as any of my school peers ever were.

I can relate. Alhaitham's only a little younger than me, but sometimes I think he's lost tact since we were children, which is remarkable, given he never had any to begin with!

I know. [Quietly. It's better in Sumeru--well, in the city, that is--than it is elsewhere, he knows, but Kaveh is fully aware of the reality of suffering.] But I agree. I'd like to keep an eye on them regardless of what happens with these teams we're meant to be forming, but I'm not sure how feasible that will be.

I would love to think that. [His tone is tired, though.] But I've known very few competitions that allow for multiple winners.
