Is this common in other worlds? Places like this?

[mood, buddy. she gives him a sympathetic look; she's still pretty discouraged, but it's not in her nature to dwell.]

I don't know. The places I've seen aren't like this, really.

Me neither. [Some of this looks like what Matsui described to him as his favorite aesthetic... but Kaveh doesn't say that. He holds out a hand to her instead.] Do you want to take a look around?

[she will take his hand, though there's a moment's hesitation where she doesn't pull her paw out of her cape.

[They can put a little sign with his name on it on one of the cells, in his honor.

For now, the effect hasn't hit him too badly--he chalks Ylfa's hesitation up to being overwhelmed, so he waits patiently, giving her hand a gentle squeeze once he takes it. Off they go!]

Can you tell me more about your world, Ylfa? What sorts of places have you seen?

Oh, wow. Sure.

[she's just kind of uncomfortable in general, hiding under her hood as much as she can.]

Well, I'm from Pottingham, which is a small town in the Lullaby Lands. It's pretty peaceful there - or it usually is. Lots of small towns and trees and forests and talking animals.

But I've been all over the Neverafter. Elegy, Snowhold, the City of Chimneys, the Land of Giants, Toy Island...I've never been to Gerard's kingdom, or Puss in Boots', or Rosamund's, but...most places.

And I've also been to the library that's between our world and other ones, and inside a few different books.

[Kaveh nods as she talks, listening.]

Right, I remember you mentioned traveling with your group. [All those people!] You started traveling with--Mother, wasn't it? Did you meet the others along the way?

[oh, he remembered.]

Yep. I met up with Mother first, and then we ran into Gerard and Rosamund and Pib and Pinocchio on the road. It was funny - Gerard and Rosamund are really royalty, and Pib and Pinocchio were pretending to be royalty to try and scam somebody, and then it was just me and Mother.

But we were all going in the same direction, and when the guy they were scamming got mad I protected Pinocchio and Pib from him so we decided to stick together a bit.

[HELP... he's trying so hard not to frown... he doesn't like the idea of Ylfa hanging out SCAMMERS, THIS IS PERSONALLY OFFENSIVE TO HIM FOR REASONS and yet he's too nice to not try and be understanding]

Why in the world were they scamming people?

For money? Because the world is hard and dangerous, especially for a little cat and a child puppet, and wealth at least buys you comfort and safety for a time? Because it was funny? I dunno.

Don't worry, the person they were scamming was a jerk who was trying to use what he thought was a little kid prince turned into a puppet to get rich...

But he looks a little appeased by that... he still doesn't approve but at least she's not being taught to take advantage of nice people :< Though, it's not like he doesn't know how the world works, and he can't help feeling sympathetic. Desperation and poverty can drive you to a lot of things, he gets it.]

Well, as long as you're all safe, I suppose. Did you get him arrested?

No, Kaveh. He's rich, getting arrested isn't for rich people.

It doesn't really work like that, and I'm not even sure he did any crimes. But it's okay! Your world must be different than ours, a little.

But he's not so naive that he doesn't know criminals get away with shit sometimes, so he just grumbles about it.]
