The only reason he got upset at Kiichi's rejection was because of the attitude he'd had about it, as if he didn't care at all about Ruby's death. It was too grating in the immediate aftermath.] I just hate that it feels like she died for nothing. But I don't know if we'll ever hear from Nightingale again.

[And there are only so many things he can think of to do about it in the span of a few hours.]

I'm not sure helping Nightingale is what Ruby would have wanted, anyway. I think she was pretty angry at them. But I also - I think having to do that really drove her to a dark place. I'm scared for what's going to happen to Kiichi and Aika next.

Aika is pretty smart and good at keeping herself safe, but I still don't like imagining her having to go through all of this...so we should ask.

That's a good idea. [He looks over at his notes, tapping the page.] Um--I was actually compiling a list of the ideas we mentioned earlier. Just... for another copy. I was thinking I'd give it to her before we leave, just in case.
