I wouldn't go that far. I'm not particularly violent, but I'll defend myself when I need to. [He's truly just. So normal compared to people like Childe and Yams.] People tend to think of me as an idealist, more than anything. I don't necessarily agree with that either, but I don't mind it. They used to say the same about my father.

[ Used to? Also while he's totally happy to let go about Kaveh asking about his age, it's funny how much his reaction just blew away Wolfwood's discomfort about Nahida actually casually being infinitely years old. ]

Yes, I've been incredibly lucky. [He turns his face away, gazing out at nothing in particular.] Back then, when they called him an idealist, I don't think it had the same connotations. The judgement that comes with it now--that assumption of naivete. You could say that those who disapprove were objectively correct, but... I don't know. I don't think it matters that it's a flawed perspective. There's nothing perfect in the world anyway--we might as well do what we can for each other.

[A pause, then he blinks, ducking his head sheepishly.]

Sorry, I didn't mean to talk your ear off.

[ For what it's worth, Wolfwood doesn't seem bothered. Hand in his pocket, slouched and bad posture, but his eyes are on Kaveh and it's not like he focuses out or anything of the sort. He's a perfectly good listener. ]

It's a good stance. If more people in the world were like that, it'd probably be a much better place.

I'd like to think so. Though, they also say that conflict begets growth. [So he doesn't necessarily want everyone in the world to be like him; just, more.]

Hard to say. I've never been inside that gilded birdcage, so I wouldn't know what it's like.

[The comment earns him a wry smile, though it fades as Wolfwood talks. He hums softly, a wordless acknowledgment; there's a hint of understanding on his face, though he doesn't volunteer more.]

...I admire resilient people. [The ones who are able to keep going, day after day, no matter how hard life tries to crush them. Who are able to pick themselves up after they lose everything, to find new happiness.] Matsui pointed out that it's a privileged way of thinking--being able to care for more than yourself.
